What is a Giclée Print? This fine art print of my original painting is known as an Iris Giclée. Giclée is a French term meaning "to spray forcefully." The cornerstone of the Giclée process is the enhanced Iris digital inkjet printer which has been specifically modified for fine art precision. The printer uses a continuous tone technology in which infinitely small pixels of color are capable of rendering an amazingly smoth and consistent image. Watercolor paper or canvas is mounted on a drum and as the drum rotates at a high speed, individual droplets of color spray on the surface at the rate of 4-5 million droplets per second. Each droplet of ink measures no more than 15 microns in diameter. Some of the most archival inks and substrates available have been used in these prints. The result is a museum quality print. This reproduction has been printed with the Equipoise ink set. It is printed on 100% Rag Somerset 320 mg Cold Press watercolor paper. When properly cared for and not exposed to direct sunlight this print should not show any fading for 22 to 26 years. For additional information on the stability testing of this ink set, please contact Skylark Images or refer to the published results of Wilheim Imaging Research, Inc. |
